Dori — thread. Gari — the act of making.
For a decade, our founder worked alongside India's most discerning designers and architects — and kept meeting the same gap: rugs with either provenance or design rigour, never both. Dorigari was built to close it.
The room always comes before the rug.
Before a design is chosen or a loom is set, we ask the same questions: what is the surface asking for, how does light move through the room, what proportion will feel complete rather than imposed. This spatial-first thinking shapes every decision — construction, pile height, material, and finally, the design itself.
Material
New Zealand wool, for its resilience and quiet lustre. Bamboo silk, where a design calls for light to catch differently.
